Regardless of your industry, your role, and your involvement level with CX, Oracle’s annual conference, Modern Customer Experience 2018, in Chicago Apr 10-12 offers a tremendous amount of learning opportunities, networking events, and entertainment.
Heck, even the keynotes promise to be entertaining with the likes of YouTube phenom Casey Neistat, Cheryl Strayed, bestselling author of WILD, and the VP of Fan Experience from Fanatics, Carolyne Matsheshe-Crawford. (Hint: Don’t miss these sessions!)
It can be a bit staggering if you’re not prepared. So we asked our co-founder Justin Foster about his expectations for this year’s event and to share some tips from his experiences in previous years to help you get the most from the content.
What do you look forward to most at Modern Customer Experience?
The conversations with sophisticated marketers. Brands that work with Oracle tend to be in verticals that align closely with verticals where Liveclicker has a particularly strong presence: retail, travel, financial services, and the like. Additionally, these brands tend to operate well-resourced programs and are generally more open to adopting new technology compared with marketers that sit further downmarket. So the synergy is very strong, resulting in interesting conversations about new technology, industry innovations and ideas, and, hopefully, opportunities to partner with more top brands.
I also look forward to the event as a way to advance our partnership with Oracle. Oracle is a large company with hundreds of partners in its network. Investing in the relationship is a long-term process that requires attention and proactive management. We are always interested in helping our partners and we realize that if we stay committed, we will benefit from the partnership as well. MCX is a great place to connect with many people from Oracle in a short window of time so we can advance that long-term strategic relationship.
What have you enjoyed/appreciated about Oracle conferences from years past?
Oracle, and Oracle Marketing Cloud specifically, employs a lot of smart people who deal with difficult challenges facing some of the world’s largest marketers. Just being in close physical proximity to so many “Oracle people” almost guarantees that we’ll come away with new ideas to enhance our products or build greater go-to-market alignment. We wouldn’t miss it.
What are the hot topics you expect to see rise to the top during this event?
I expect a lot of discussion in three areas: personalization, data integration, and machine learning. On the personalization front, there are new technologies that are truly transforming what’s possible for marketers to achieve – across channels. On the data integration side, we are seeing walls begin to crumble that have held back marketers for years so I expect a lot of tracks and discussion here as well. Last, machine learning (and AI, in general) are very hot topics in the industry right now. Lots of companies, including Liveclicker, are investing heavily in this area to help solve some of the more difficult challenges marketers face – areas like product recommendations, testing automation, predictive content, and more. We are definitely going to hear about some of the early adopters and get a sense for how real the gains are this year versus what remains on next year’s ‘to-do’ list.
